Project ︎︎︎ GAZE International LGBTQ+ Film Festival - 2022 



For the 2022 edition of GAZE, I began to explore ideas around the transition from analogue to digital which had begun by the 1990s. As the world began to explore the web and experiment with what a digital landscape might look like, some unique design conventions formed.  I was also researching the history of queer resistance in Ireland and abroad, inspired by queer night club posters, protest banners and more.

 
I was especially fascinated by Basquiats early work creating xerox prints. With this in mind I wanted the design to comment on our relationship to the past, using contemporary typography mixed in with pixellated forms. This years design is a conversation between our past and present, and this is reflected in the printing format, risograph printing being the middle ground between digital and screen printing (or the analogue and digital world). Finally the bright pink colour scheme reflects on queerness without relying on the overt (and sometimes clichè) rainbow motif. This was also my first major web development project, coding the website from scratch using html and css. You can view the website here:
